A conundrum?

Most women say, "I want to choose a partner who will be his true self with me."

I'm not quite sure what my true self is. That is one of the biggest puzzles. What's more I have a feeling, if I were to know my true self, and still be alive, then I'd be too content anyways to then wish to be with a woman. Interesting.

its a lie dear..

its a simple management technique of making people do what you want while they think they are doing whatever they want..

similarly, be your true self my love, that aligns exactly with what i think you should be!

so the problem is harder now, because its not just your philosophical mettle thats tested its hers! But well, i trust women to typically to know what they want in the field of men, but also trust them not to make any effort in finding what they want otherwise (like husband, children, family etc.)

bottomline: are you a guy? you are screwed

I guess it means you do/don't do things because you feel like doing it, not because she likes/doesn't like it. That is, she doesn't want a mask created for her sake.

This however, may or may not, as a commonly misconcepted, imply 'acceptance of the person'. The latter would require not feeling sad that a person has, or doesn't have behavioural traits which you (she in this case) like.

You might have some qualities she doesn't like. Then she would want you to change it, or feel happy if you end up changing (in a relationship both are almost the same). This change might happen by putting on a mask as well, but that sounds artificial, is insecure, and hence not something she desires. All's well if both are happy with you whole heartedly changing, but if you become unhappy in the process, or are unable to change, then it is a problem. Also leads to an expectation that the quality stays forever. A problem in any case.
